Denver Public Library | Central Branch
Slate partnered closely with the design team and key library staff to evaluate and select furnishings that support a wide range of programmatic needs across this 40,000-square-foot library. The scope of work included the Children’s Area, large programming spaces, security zones, and back-of-house staff areas, each requiring thoughtful solutions tailored to how the spaces are used day to day.
The project was delivered through a phased remodel to maintain continuity of service for the community. The Children’s Area was prioritized for immediate opening, with the larger LPS spaces completed nine months later. This phased approach allowed the library to remain operational while creating engaging, functional environments that support learning, programming, and staff operations.
Collaboration required flexibility, as design time was scheduled around the client team’s daily responsibilities. An efficient and engaging process helped maintain momentum without disrupting operations. Installation progressed smoothly through close coordination with the City Project Manager, General Contractor, and A&D teams, resulting in minimal punch items that were quickly resolved. Direct shipments from Steelcase were strategically planned and arrived on schedule, supporting a seamless installation and successful project delivery.
